  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • ¼ cup dry red apple vinegar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch + 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Cut sirloin tips into 1-inch cubes and season with spices and flour.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the beef in batches.
  3. Deglaze the pan with apple vinegar after browning the beef.
  4. Cook diced onions in butter until softened; add minced garlic.
  5. Add all remaining ingredients (except cornstarch mixture) to the skillet; bring to a boil.
  6. Thicken gravy by adding cornstarch mixed with cold water gradually while stirring until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Return browned beef to the skillet, cover partially, and simmer until cooked through.
  8. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
